Using videos, paintings, photographs and tapestries, Nelson simultaneously examines the phenomenon of movement from both highly personal and broad societal frameworks.

Mark Nelson was born in Salina, Kan., in 1957. He received a BFA in photography from Pratt Institute and an MFA in photography from the University of Houston. He has received multiple awards for this project. Most recently, Nelson was awarded a 2013 Individual Artist Grant from the Houston Arts Alliance.
