Gallery Jatad presents an exhibition of mono-prints by Joëlle Verstraeten titled Allegro, Moderato that includes a series of prints from LPs that are inked, transferred to glass and then to paper.
Verstraeten brings a delicate beauty to these everyday objects by incorporating elements of chine colle' and handmade paper. Also included in Allegro, Moderato is a series of prints of garments executed with the same process.
Verstraeten is a Belgian artist who has been living in Houston, studying at the Glassell School and refining her personal style of printmaking over the past four years. The prints will be displayed with traditional fine art from Mali, including important sculptural pieces from the Bamana and Dogon.
This is the inaugural exhibition for Gallery Jatad at its new location. On view through June 27.
