George McNeil enjoyed an illustrious career spanning six decades. He was a founding member of the American Abstract Artists group which began in 1936, but it was during the 1950s, the height of the Abstract Expressionism era, when McNeil's work blossomed. By 1960, the figure began to emerge in his compositions — this was the beginnings of NeoExpressionism.
On view through June 1.
