Archway Gallery presents "Painted Stories," an exhibition of new works by longtime Houston artist and teacher Jim Hill.
Hill shows people that it’s never too late to do what they love. With a career spanning nearly five decades, Hill’s whimsical, storybook-inspired paintings which began with small acrylic paintings of ladies in floppy hats and men with hats and mustaches, blends acrylic, watercolor, collage, and pencil into rich, layered compositions. His latest collection of twenty-eight paintings celebrates quiet moments, small joys, and the poetry of everyday life through a lens of color, curiosity, and charm.
Hill’s distinct style - marked by soft brushstrokes, dappled light, and a palette bursting with personality - draws inspiration from the French impressionists yet feels uniquely his own. "Painted Stories" invites viewers to slow down, look closer, and imagine the tales within each canvas.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until October 2, 2025.
