Archway Gallery will again be a part of the annual Empty Bowls fundraising endeavor. This grassroots effort is organized by local artists and craftspeople in cities and towns across the country to feed the hungry in their communities. Attendees will select a bowl from hundreds of one-of-a-kind, handcrafted bowls donated by Houston area craft artists. Participants then receive a simple lunch of soup and bread.
Over 30 finely crafted, one-of-a-kind bowls made of ceramic, wood, glass, and fiber will be displayed in addition to the work submitted by both 2D and 3D Archway Gallery artists. The Empty Bowls artwork may be purchased through the month-long Silent Auction with proceeds benefitting the Houston Food Bank.
Following the opening reception, the event will be ongoing until May 30. The preview party (May 18) and event day (May 19) will be held at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
