Archway Gallery will host the annual "Empty Bowls" fundraising endeavor. This grassroots effort is organized by local artists and craftspeople in cities and towns across the country to feed the hungry in their communities.
Empty Bowls Houston, benefiting the Houston Food Bank, is presented by local sponsors and implemented locally by Houston-area artists working in various media. For a minimum $25 donation, attendees of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft event have the pleasure of selecting a bowl from hundreds of one-of-a-kind, handcrafted bowls donated by Houston area craft artists. Participants then receive a simple lunch of soup and bread.
At Archway Gallery, over 30 finely crafted, one-of-a-kind bowls made of ceramic, wood, glass, and fiber will be displayed in addition to the work submitted by both 2D and 3D Archway Gallery artists. The Empty Bowls artwork may be purchased through the month-long Silent Auction.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until May 25.
