Architecture Center Houston Walking Tour: "Rock Building Stones" Downtown Geology and Materials Tour

eventdetail

This architectural and geological walking tour of downtown goes beyond the typical architectural focus to include the provenance and geology of the buildings' materials. These sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks have come from all over the world and now call Houston home. The tour is inspired by similar walks in Europe and adapted from the Houston Geological Society's 1995 tour, Houston Building Stones.

Meet at the southeast corner of Austin and McKinney streets, near the McKinney Street entrance to MKTBar at Phoenecia Specialty Foods. Discovery Green garage and surface lot parking is recommended due to two-hour limited street parking.
