Apollo Chamber Players presents Roots, featuring composers inspired by the folk music of their homeland, no longer living in the country of their birth. The concert will feature the world premiere of 20x2020 No. 17 by composer Pierre Jalbert, a string quartet paying homage to the music of his French-Canadian heritage. Serbian-born Ana Sokolović has embraced Canada as her home, yet her music pulses to the beat of her Serbian roots. And Czech composer Antonin Dvorák, forever transformed by his time in America, composed his epic 14th string quartet after returning to his beloved Bohemia.
