eventdetail

Influenced by decades of conflict and political turmoil, the music of Cuba remains some of the richest, most beautiful in the world. Experience the vibrant sounds of this culture through recently discovered works - only now accessible due to the recent embargo relaxation - and a new string quartet by Rice University faculty composer Arthur Gottschalk, inspired by the island’s unique folkloric music. An award-winning work by Cuban/Miami-based composer Maureen Reyes Lavastida complements the musical festivities.
