American Festival for the Arts hosts the Frazier Merriman Award luncheon honoring Bingiee Shiu

eventdetail

Started in 2011, the Frazier Merriman Award is presented every other year to honor a person or organization that has had a significant impact on arts education in Houston. The award is named in honor of the Frazier and Merriman families for their generous support of the American Festival for the Arts.

The 2013 recipient is Bingiee Shiu. Celebrating his 21st year as the conductor of the award-winning orchestras at Memorial High School, Shiu has inspired music students and educators to strive for excellence, not only in music, but in their lives.

All proceeds from the luncheon will support the AFA Scholarship Enrichment Fund, which gives any qualified student the opportunity to attend AFA programs regardless of their ability to pay.

Attire: Business casual.
