The global museum community will converge in Houston for the 105th American Association of Museums Annual Meeting and Museum Expo. The theme for the event is “The Museum of Tomorrow” and the 5,500 meeting participants will explore the vital role museums can and will play in meeting the myriad challenges confronting society in the decades to come.

These Public Sessions Track are designed to appeal to the average museum visitor and local citizens. These sessions will give the general public an “inside look” at how museums work.

Description: Have you ever wondered how museums build, organize and care for objects in their collections? Gain insight on the fascinating collections process from the perspective of a curator, a collections manager and a conservator and the unique roles they play in acquiring and preserving museum objects. Learn more about what makes an object collectible, why and what distinguishes a museum collection from a private or personal collection.
