The global museum community will converge in Houston for the 105th American Association of Museums Annual Meeting and Museum Expo. The theme for the event is “The Museum of Tomorrow” and the 5,500 meeting participants will explore the vital role museums can and will play in meeting the myriad challenges confronting society in the decades to come.

These Public Sessions Track are designed to appeal to the average museum visitor and local citizens. These sessions will give the general public an “inside look” at how museums work.

Governance Best Practices for the Museum of Tomorrow

Description: Join leaders from other museum boards and experts on governance for a panel discussion on the ever-changing role of a museum board member in today’s fast-moving environment, and an overview of resources available to improve the quality of board governance. Explore the key differences between corporate boards and museum boards. Hear directly from other museums’ board members and take away specific techniques and ideas on how you can continue to contribute to your museum’s success. Open to any and all museum board members, trustees and directors, and equally valuable to senior staff who interact with board members and participate in governance processes.
