Kurosawa follows the success of Yojimbo with Sanjuro, in which his leading man, Toshiro Mifune, once again plays a ronin whose indifference turns into an unflagging loyalty to protect the defenseless. A funnier and smoother film, Sanjuro is not to be missed. Michael Sicinski of Cinemascope introduces the film.
