African Film Festival: Moolaadé at MFAH

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston showcases contemporary African films, including recent features and documentaries, at the African Film Festival. The festival opens June 4 and runs through June 27.

The late director Ousmane Sembene's Moolaadé, tells the story of a village tribesman's wife who courageously protects four young girls fleeing the African ceremony of female circumcision. The film deals with issues of gender, power, custom and change.
