59th Annual Theta Charity Antiques Show Lecture: “A Suitable Residence: The Texas Governor’s Mansion and its Collections"

eventdetail

When the Governor’s Mansion suffered a devastating fire in 2008, the house was emptied due to a deferred maintenance project. Now, for the first time since the fire, the Texas Governor’s Mansion will release a collection of fine and decorative arts to display at this year’s Theta Charity Antiques Show.

Jane Karotkin, curator/administrator for Friends of the Governor’s Mansion, will give an update on the progress of the building's restoration, detail exciting discoveries about some important objects in the collection and give an in-depth look at the wonderful things in the loaned exhibition. The loans include objects with special Houston connections and new acquisitions that will be added when the Mansion reopens in late spring 2012.
