The festival offers activities for the entire family, including a barbecue cook-off, pet parade, carnival, wine tasting, queen's reception, basketball tournament and a street dance evening with entertainment provided by The Earlywine band.
Saturday starts at 7 a.m. with the Watermelon Fun Run followed by the 8:30 a.m. Car Parade, the 9 a.m. Watermelon Festival Parade and the opening ceremonies and queen's coronation. The carnival and basketball tournaments continue throughout the day.
The festival includes arts, crafts, food vendors, a quilt show, live melon auction along with other melon items, watermelons and live entertainment throughout the day. Entertainment will include such acts as Abigail Taylor, The Silvertones and Darrell Supercinski. A watermelon eating and seed spitting contests and a car show have been added to this year's lineup. The day ends with a street dance with Fred Andrews and Honeybrowne followed by the Emotions.
