eventdetail

It's time to come out of the non-green closet and join the eco revolution. Join the Houston Parks and Recreation Department as they kick-off the 25th Annual Arbor Day by planting the first of 25,000 trees scheduled to green Houston. An eight-inch live oak tree will call Hermann Square Park (at the corner of McKinney and Smith) its home.

Arbor Day will actually take place on Jan 22, where 2,500 volunteers will be needed to plant 25,000 trees on Wallisville Road Esplanades and the 610 and I-10 interchange. Pre-registration is required and festivities will take place rain or shine. Online registration for individuals is availabe at www.houstonparks.org. Groups of 10 or more should contact Oneika McCarthy at oneika.mccarthy@houstontx.gov or 832-395-7030.
