Sebastián Silva both stars in and directs this seriocomic tale of aging hipsters and their desire to start a family in Brooklyn’s Forte Greene neighborhood. Freddy (Silva) is a struggling mixed-media artist whose best friend, Polly (Kristen Wiig), asks him to be the biological father of her child. When Freddy learns he is infertile, Polly aggressively pursues Freddy’s boyfriend for the job. Meanwhile, a vagrant who settles into an abandoned walk-up acts aggressively toward residents, and expresses vitriolic homophobia toward Freddy. Already a hothead and increasingly frustrated by both his stagnating career and his infertility, Freddy fights back and sets off a situation from which there is no turning back.
