Ivy League grad Michael Glatze (James Franco) is the handsome, charismatic, and opinionated co-editor of the groundbreaking gay periodical XY Magazine. After moving from San Francisco with his boyfriend (Zachary Quinto), Glatze experiences a traumatic health scare that leads him to find solace in the Bible, question his beliefs, and conclude that he is “a heterosexual person with a homosexual problem.” Rejecting his former life and his friends, Glatze marries a woman and becomes pastor of his own church.
