The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has declared January Poverty Awareness Month. In response, Catholic Charities hosts "kNOw Poverty," a poverty summit focusing on eliminating poverty one person at a time.

The lineup of speakers includes Stephen Klineberg from Rice University, Robert Sanborn from Children at Risk, Anna Babin from the United Way of Greater Houston and more.

The day will conclude with a poverty simulation that allows participants to endure the stresses of living in poverty. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Parking is free.
