In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Writers in the Schools' "A Celebration of Story" will feature a collaborative performance with WITS students in honor of Anita Kruse and Purple Songs Can Fly, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a creative musical outlet for children at Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers at Texas Children's Hospital.
Courtney Zubowski of KHOU Ch. 11 will emcee this event. The silent auction will showcase works of art, creative experiences and fun games. Event proceeds will support the WITS program and mission to engage children in the pleasure and power of reading and writing.
