Kevin Locke (Lakota name Tokaheya Inajin, meaning "The First to Arise") is a visionary hoop dancer, preeminent player of the indigenous Northern Plains flute, a traditional storyteller and educator. Locke is acknowledged to be the pivotal force in the revival of the indigenous flute tradition, which teetered on the brink of extinction and was awarded a National Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts. Locke shares his gifts with Rothko Chapel members during two performances in the chapel, with a special reception on the plaza in between.
