2013 Houston Palestine Film Festival: When I Saw You
eventdetail
Match Factory
In the summer of 1967, Israeli forces seize control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria. Thousands of Palestinians pour into Jordan, some separated from their families by the chaos of war. Among them are 11-year-old Tarek and his mother Ghaydaa, who wind up in a refugee camp.
When Tarek secretly sets out to search for his father, he discovers a clandestine site in the forest where volunteers receive military training to become freedom fighters and liberate their lands. Palestine's first female director explores the underlying theme of being unable to return to ancestral land.
