In conversation with cancer survivor and cancer caregiver Ted Kennedy Jr., "We Can Go Forward" luncheon marks the first annual presentation of The H. Rudy Teichman Anchor of Strength Award to a family widely-known as compassionate cancer caregivers: Cora Sue and Harry Mach, Carmen and Butch Mach, and Joella and Steve Mach.
To launch the inauguration of this new annual event, Kennedy comes to Houston 40 years to the week he lost a leg to childhood bone cancer. The nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy and son of the late U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy Sr., he will tell his captivating story of a young cancer survivor overcoming self-esteem battles while in the public eye, and share how healthy cancer rehabilitation shaped his life's work as a nationally-known disability rights advocate.
