Avenue CDC hosts the 17th Annual "Art on the Avenue," which features a silent auction of works from more than 250 Houston artists. This year's festivities include a fine art gallery curated by Rice Gallery director Kimberly Davenport and a raffle of a framed print by acclaimed British print master Damien Hirst.
The party will include a poetry slam performance by the Writers in the Schools slam team, which will perform an original poem written for the event by Deborah D.E.E.P. Wiggins. Guests will enjoy, delicacies from Cuchara, Beavers, Café Brussels and Jenni's Noodle House, and the first chance to place "Buy Now" bids for art pieces.
The main event continues on Nov. 16, 6-10 p.m.
Guests will have their pick of original art, including painting, sculpture and jewelry pieces. Silent auction packages include travel, dinners, entertainment, spa experiences and more.
Avenue CDC is dedicated to revitalizing Houston's Washington Avenue and Near Northside communities by developing affordable housing and economic opportunities while preserving the area's economic, cultural and historical diversity.
