10th Annual Houston Jewish Film Festival: Zaytoun

eventdetail

From Eran Riklis, award-winning director of Lemon Tree, comes Zaytoun, a film about an unlikely friendship that develops between Yoni, an Israeli combat pilot shot down over Beirut during the 1982 Lebanese Civil War, and Fahed, a young Palestinian boy from a refugee family who is one of Yoni's captors.

Fahid wants to travel to his family's ancestral village to plant an olive tree in memory of his father, who has recently been killed by a bomb. Despite Fahed's hatred of Yoni, he decides he can use Yoni to realize his dream and the two embark upon a dangerous trip through the no man's land between Lebanon and Israel.
