Ceramists in Baytown and surrounding areas – professional and amateur – are invited to join in a Bowl-a-Thon at Lee College to make clay bowls to be donated to the Houston Food Bank's 10th Annual Empty Bowls Houston event on May 17. A collaboration between Houston area ceramist, woodturners and artists working in all media, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and Lawndale Art Center, Empty Bowls is an international effort to fight hunger, implemented in Houston to benefit the Houston Food Bank.
Lee College is donating everything for this event, including studio space, clay, glazes, trimming and firing. Instructor Jennifer Herzberg, head of the ceramics department, is leading the Bowl-a-Thon.
The event will be held in the Ceramics Studio, McNulty Haddick Complex, Room W28, on the Lee College Main Campus. The McNulty Haddick Complex is on Texas Avenue near Decker Drive.
