SBP's mission is to shrink the time between disaster and recovery. Natural disasters can't be prevented, but some of the suffering they cause can. By increasing resilience before disasters occur and streamlining the post-disaster recovery process, SBP is able to fortify people against unnecessary stress and trauma.

Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area in 2017, and although a good amount of the community has moved on from the storm, a large number of families are still displaced. SBP aims to help shrink the cost and time that it will take for these families to get back home.

The best way to get involved is be to volunteer. You can find more information about signing up to volunteer by emailing TXvolunteer@sbpusa.org. They have homes open every Monday through Saturday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Volunteers are the main work force when rebuilding homes, so new volunteers are always welcome. There is no experience required; you'll be taught everything you need to know once you get on the work site.
