The mission of the Memorial Park Conservancy is to preserve, restore, and enhance Memorial Park for the enjoyment of all Houstonians, today and tomorrow. Founded in 2000, Memorial Park Conservancy aspires to implement principles of exceptional park management and stewardship in a successful public-private partnership with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. Memorial Park Conservancy advances its mission through several areas of focus, including conservation and community involvement and eduction.

Volunteers are an integral part of the restoration and maintenance of the park. Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals, groups, schools, and corporations of all types — head here for more information and to get started.

Nearly 400 guests turn out annually for Picnic for the Park, Memorial Park Conservancy's annual gala. The evening features laid-back attire (deemed "bee casual, no ties"), and French country-inspired picnics complete with blue-checkered tablecloths, lavender, and wildflowers. Attendees fuel up on rustic fare packed in wicker picnic baskets before hitting the dance floor.

Friends of Memorial Park is the Conservancy's principal membership program that seeks to connect park-loving individuals and community-minded organizations. Becoming a Friend of Memorial Park supports critical preservation and capital improvement projects of Memorial Park Conservancy. Friends of Memorial Park are invited to participate in friends-only activities, including private tours and lectures, networking events, and other opportunities to experience the park in a deeper way.
