The Montrose Center empowers the Houston community — primarily lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and their families — to enjoy healthier and more fulfilling lives through a team of state-licensed clinicians, masters-level therapists, skilled educators, support staff, and dedicated volunteers. Because LGBT persons face numerous health disparities compared to the general population, the Montrose Center has embraced an integrated care model with one-stop access to behavioral health and support services, adult primary care and psychiatry, and free wellness programs that empower individuals to proactively participate in their own care.
The Montrose Center offers both individual and group volunteer opportunities. Examples of ways Montrose Center volunteers help further their mission include as a clerical assistant, LGBT switchboard volunteers, and working on special events and fundraising. The first step is to complete a volunteer application.
One of LGBTQ Houston's favorite and longest running events, Bringin' in the Green features an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent auction. Hosted by the Montrose Center, ticket sales and sponsorships support Hatch Youth Services' collaborative to end local LGBTQ youth homelessness through rapid rehousing, case management, drop-in center, and street outreach.
Membership in the Montrose Society begins with an annual fund investment of $1,200 or more per year. Leadership Circle members who give $2,400 or more annually enjoy additional benefits, including invitations to exclusive events.
