K9s4COPS was formed to address the need for funding the purchase of K9s for law enforcement agencies. K9s cost around $15,000 to $25,000 per dog, and most agencies struggle when budgeting for the purchase of a K9. What most departments can budget for, however, is the required care, training, and transportation of a K9. K9s4COPs was founded to bridge this gap and ensure that K9 cost never keeps an officer from having their K9 partner.
The K9s provided to law enforcement through K9s4COPS are funded solely by donations from individuals, community-minded businesses, and gifts from charitable foundations who want to help promote a safer future. Gifts to K9s4COPS go directly toward the training, purchase, and placement of K9 officers in communities and schools across the county.
The annual Unleashed Fast Dog/Hard Dog gala at the Bayou City Event Center is K9s4COPS' signature fundraising event. Guests are entertained by a Hard Dog/Fast Dog competition, food stations, and dance tunes, and all funds raised go toward providing K9 service dogs to agencies and schools.
