Houston Center for Literacy strengthens providers of adult education who, in turn, provide necessary skills for underemployed citizens to fulfill their potential and become economically self-sufficient.
Houston Center for Literacy is accepting volunteers at all three of its learning centers. Volunteers opportunities range from helping with general office support to giving your time at community outreach events and annual fundraisers to working with Houston Center for Literacy Learners. The annual Great Grown-up Spelling Bee benefits Houston Center for Literacy and features a fun and competitive spelling bee for adults. The evening begins with a cocktail hour followed by unique eats, and concludes with a coffee and dessert bar and music from a DJ. The highlight of the event is the adult spelling bee, where multiple teams of two compete against each other until one emerges victorious.
