Friends of Down Syndrome's mission is to create lifelong education and learning opportunities for teens and adults with Down syndrome through education, socialization, and community outreach.

The best way to get involved is to volunteer at the Down Syndrome Academy, a school for adults with Down syndrome in Northwest Houston. Volunteers are also welcome at the T21 Social Club events, which are held monthly and mainly at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Houston Heights.

There is also a Friends of Down Syndrome team in the Chevron Houston Marathon and Half Marathon, with regular events leading up to the races.

The biggest annual event is the Cinderella Ball, held every March at Houston's CityCentre. There is also an annual fashion show and a Fiesta luncheon, plus several other events throughout the year. Head here to learn more.

A new young professionals group is in the process of being formed. Call 281-989-0345 or email Rosa Rocha at president@friendsofdownsyndrome.org for more information.
