The mission of Communities In Schools of Houston (CIS) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS amplifies the power of each student's potential by connecting them to caring adults and community resources designed to help them succeed. Across the Houston community, they knit together a powerful network of partners — including volunteers, social service agencies, mental health providers, and educators — that help students stay focused so they can go further tomorrow.

Whether you would like to intern, volunteer, or partner with CIS, there are ongoing volunteer opportunities available in many elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as in the central office. Volunteer opportunities include: tutoring in math, science, and reading; college preparation; employment job preparedness; and mentoring.

You can also make a donation to help connect at-risk students with caring adults, community resources, and support systems to keep them in school and on the path to graduation. Head here to get involved.

Business and community leaders dedicated to helping school children in their times of need gather annually for CIS' Stay In School Gala. Generous benefactors learn about CIS and support the fundraising event as educators call on student support specialists from CIS to help more students than ever with mental health and other comprehensive services.
