Established in 1985, the Community Artists' Collective believes that an education in the arts stimulates the talents and creative abilities necessary to solve the economic, cultural, and social challenges facing mankind. The Collective's goal is to make arts education more accessible to both children and adults by providing and or participating in hands-on classes, including painting, sculpture, quilting, and other artistic disciplines, both at The Collective and in the community.

The Collective assists artists in sustaining themselves by providing arts-related services, training, and employment, and exhibiting the production of original work by living artists, young and old. Its mission is to provide the educational link between African American artists and all communities, inspiring unlimited creativity.

Volunteers can contribute financially and in-kind and can assist with exhibitions, classes, and word-of-mouth promotion.

The Collective presents a minimum of six exhibitions a year, including the year-end Ashe Holiday Market. Seasonal canvases and an annual fundraiser are presented then.
