Childhood cancer was largely considered incurable when St. Jude was opened in 1962. Now, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate in the U.S. from 20% to more than 80%. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, St. Jude cares for some of the world’s sickest children regardless of their race, ethnicity, beliefs, or ability to pay.
American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC), the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude, hosts numerous events such as galas, golf tournaments, and walks and marathons throughout the year in Dallas, Austin, Houston, and surrounding areas.
