This volunteer group is committed to serving the educational and emotional needs of disadvantaged children and young adults, as well as families in crisis in the greater Houston area. Founded in l968 in Houston, they have since provided free school uniforms to more than 70,000 children in need.

Become a voting, non-voting member, or a community volunteer.

Members help disadvantaged children through Operation School Bell(R) by taking them shopping for uniforms. With the scholarship fund, students are assisted in obtaining higher education. Other activities include: Head Start Readers, a literacy program in which kids are read to and given books to take home, a holiday party for patients and families at Texas Children's Hospital, and an art show for emerging Texas artists.

The Assistance League hosts several events, including an art show for emerging Texas arts, luncheons, holiday coffee, a scholarship brunch, and a crawfish boil. 

Fees are $100 for voting membership and $125 for non-voting.
