Revels Houston is a unique, community-based performing arts organization and a living tradition that welcomes participation from those of all backgrounds and ages. Revels performances celebrate the rituals and traditions drawn from many lands and peoples through different eras. Revels leads children and adults to discover that the timeless traditions of the different cultures throughout the world really are shared by all mankind. The celebration of these traditions is the common thread that binds us all.

You can help out as an audience member, performer, chorus member, or behind-the-scenes volunteer during the Christmas production, or volunteer to help with year-round operations.

Revels has held its signature The Christmas Revels — A Celebration of the Winter Solstice< em> for 28 of its 29 years in Houston. Each year's production depicts a different culture and a different era, such as Elizabethan England, Italian Renaissance, or 1920s Appalachian. Each show is a theatrical production featuring a chorus of children, teens, and adults singing choral music; professional musicians playing period music; storytelling; plays; dances; and theatrical costumes from the specific culture/era.

Traditional elements include a Mummers play every year and the entire audience dancing and singing toward the lobby to "Lord of the Dance" at intermission. The 2019 production of The Christmas Revels is An English Victorian Celebration of the Winter Solstice, with five performances held December 13-15, 2019, at the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (The MATCH), Main Street at Holman Street in Midtown Houston.
