For nearly 100 years, the Houston SPCA has been Houston’s first and largest animal protection agency in the Gulf Coast region. It provides more than a dozen vital services and programs for the community, including adoptions, 24-hour injured animal rescue ambulance, and educational programs and outreach that promote commitment to and respect for all animals to help free them from suffering, abuse, and exploitation.

All new volunteers are considered trainees and complete their first 20 hours in one of four direct animal care areas: large dogs, small dogs, cattery, and small mammals. After 20 hours are accrued, volunteers are eligible to apply for additional volunteer opportunities. For more information and to begin the application process, head here.

A room full of compassionate and generous animal lovers come together each year for the Houston SPCA's annual gala, a special evening that raises money and celebrates the accomplishments of the organization.
