Painting power
Instant paintings plus fab art auction raise a bundle for popular charity
Not too long before the Thanksgiving turkeys began roasting, supporters of the Children's Assessment Center gathered at Winter Street Studios for the second annual "Advocate Through Art Party," where they savored the opportunity to purchase art for the non-profit.
Emily Essaye, Allison Flikerski and Lauren Maloy chaired the event attended by more than 400, including artists GONZO274 and Taft McWhorter. Both entertained guests with their artistic talents as they created and completed paintings during the event.
In all 40 artists had works in the live and silent auctions, including Hunt Slonem (one of his iconic bunnies compliments of Gremillion & Co.), Shane Pennington, Peter Lik, Mel DeWees, Peter Tunney, Mitch McGee, Ashley Henry Wynne and more.
By night's end, $200,000 had been raised for training and education programs at the Center.
Hosted by Advocates for the Children's Assessment Center, the evening included Clark Cooper Concepts goodies for munching, plenty of libations, the music of DJ Senega and rigorous parkour demonstrations by members of Urban Movement.
Contributing to the art-filled success were Sarah and Jeff Bloom, Ericka Bagwell, Karina and Carlos Barbieri, Nancy Golden, Ursaline Hamilton, Bruce Padilla, Elizabeth Peterson, Yvette Webb and Laura Zehl.
