It's an eclectic week for concerts in Houston, with shows ranging from soul superstars — old and new —to a groovy trip-hop-meets-reggae-meets-dub-act and ​an ascending New York hip-hop artist whose show is a really hot ticket.

Friday, October 20
Early 2000s favorites Evanescence appear at Revention Music Center as part of its Synthesis Live Tour, with an orchestra in tow. The group had a hugely successful run over a decade ago, before inter-band break-ups derailed their run. They still remaining a favorite on mainstream radio, so for anyone who likes a tinge of goth, metal and theatrics with their alt-rock, this is a show for you. Tickets start at $48. Saturday, October 21
Fans of ‘70s R&B, soul and disco won’t want to miss the Under The Stars tour with The Isley Brothers, Gladys Knight, The O’Jays and S.O.S. at Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion. The Isley Brothers in particular, have been touring solid for 50 years and features a storied catalogue of hits. These acts may be getting up there in age, but they still can put on a hell of a show. Tickets start at $55. Gates open at 6 pm.

Sunday, October 22
Affable New Orleans alt-rockers Better Than Ezra, who found success with the undeniably great tune “Good” in the mid-‘90s, will play a Hurricane Harvey Benefit Concert at the House of Blues. Tickets are $48. Doors open at 6 pm.

Monday, October 23
Groovy trip-hop meets reggae meets dub act Thievery Corporation will get the crowds swaying at the House of Blues this Monday. The band found success among music heads in the late ‘90s with their mix of beats, electronics and uplifting vocals. Hard Proof opens. Tickets start at $45. Doors open at 7 pm.

Tuesday, October 24
The last time No. 1 hit-maker Bruno Mars descended on Houston, he blew everyone away with a late night set at a pre-Super Bowl party at Club Nomadic. He will return with what will surely compete for the most entertaining show of 2017, memories of the February performance fresh on everyone’s mind. He plays the much larger Toyota Center where tickets may beeasier to snag. Tickets start at $49.50. Doors open at 7 pm.

Thursday, October 26
Quickly ascending New York hip-hop artist Post Malone brings his rock ‘n roll-influenced spectacle to the House of Blues. Malone first gained notoriety with hit single “White Iverson.” He’s touring behind the popular album Stoney. Smokepurpp will open. Due to demand, tickets are listed at a pricey $269 on the House of Blues website. Doors at 7 pm.

The critically-acclaimed Afghan Whigs will bring their moody alt-rock to the intimate confines of The Heights Theater behind their latest release You Want Love. Har Mar Superstar, who once opened for The Strokes on their first tour way back in 2002 at the former Bayou Music Center (now Revention), will open. Tickets start at $28. Doors open at 7 pm.
