Luxe new apartment and mixed-use development rises in buzzing Memorial City
Houston’s construction boom just outside the Loop shows no sign of slowing, as evidenced by the few remaining tracks of land available between 610 and Beltway 8. Now, a local development company has revealed plans for a coveted parcel of land in the buzzing area that surrounds Hotel ZaZa Memorial City and Memorial City Mall.
Houston real estate development firm MetroNational has unveiled plans for a 4-acre, mixed-use development on the southwest corner of Bunker Hill Road and the Katy Freeway. The company recently broke ground on the tower, with completion scheduled for summer 2021.
The mixed-use project comprised of residential, office, and retail will be anchored by a new, all-rental luxury rental tower dubbed The McKinley Memorial City at 9757 Katy Fwy., according to a release. The 25-story, 332,231-square-foot apartment building will be comprised of 278 units in one-, two-, and three-bedroom and penthouse options, some with their own private yards.
Amenities at The McKinley include a resort-style rooftop pool with cabanas, a wave bar, golf simulator, movie theater, chef’s kitchen, state-of-the-art fitness center, dog park, bike storage, resident horizon lounge, and wine bar with wine lockers. The architecture and interiors are being designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects.
Some 4,500 square feet of retail and restaurants will line the tower’s street level, complete with an outside patio and storefronts that have views of "The Lawn" greenspace. Meanwhile, a 190,000-square-foot, nine-story, Class A office building at 9753 Katy Fwy. is being designed by Kirksey. The first floor will include retail and restaurants.
The project is also slated for completion by summer 2021.
