Brazen Jewel Robbery
With guns, hammers thieves hit River Oaks District jewelry store in broad daylight
Four thugs, armed with guns and hammers, stormed into de Boulle in River Oaks District late Tuesday afternoon smashing cases and grabbing an untold amount of high-end jewelry and watches.
While no one was seriously injured at least one saleswoman was hit by flying glass. The four men hit the store in broad daylight around 5:40 pm.
According to the police report, witnesses said that a black Nissan rushed up to the front of the store and four African American men in black hoodies jumped out of the car, ran in, and did the smash-and-grab. None of the witnesses were able to provide a good description of the men but de Boulle has video of the theft.
Photographer Lily Morris was headed for shopping at Intermix when she saw the police and fire trucks and a store employee covered in blood. In her Snapchat post that included the two photos above, she wrote, "I cannot believe what I just witnessed OMG . . . there was fire truck pulled in front of de boule (sic) the jewelry place and girl standing out (front) completely cutup all over legs and arms screaming and sobbing."
The Dallas-based de Boulle opened last November when the de Boulle family officially celebrated the swank boutique's arrival with a jewel-infused party.
Tom Ford in River Oaks District was robbed in October of 2015, before the store had officially opened.
