H-Town's developer-crazed growth has yet to consume all of our architectural gems from previous centuries and The Heritage Society is quick to salute historic buildings with great stories to tell.

In that vein, the non-profit resumes its See Irreplaceable Places (SIP) series this week with the first of three cocktail events at interesting homes with a design history.

The first is Thursday (August 27) in the Tanglewood home of Marc Melcher. The Tudor Ranch style home was built in 1954.

“The homes in this series give us a look at three of Houston’s early planned neighborhoods," said Alice Collette, Heritage Society executive director. "The houses speak to the 'can do' attitude that has guided Houston’s growth since our earliest years.”

The SIP events continue on September 23 in the Woodland Heights at the spectacular Prairie Style home of Bill Baldwin. That beautifully reburbished gem was built in 1910.

On October 28 Mayor Annise Parker and Kathy Hubbard turn over their 1904 Colonial Revival home in Westmoreland to the Heritage Society for a cocktail hour tour.
