Even though Louis Vuitton is owned by the French conglomerate LVMH, there's still a family feeling at the ancestral home and workshops where trunks and handbags are made in a village outside of Paris. Come along for a special tour.
ASNIÈRES-SUR-SEINE, France — Even though Louis Vuitton [http: /www.louisvuitton.com/front/#/dispatch] is owned by the French conglomerate LVMH [https://www.lvmh.com/], a family feeling remains at the ancestral home and atelier in this village located five miles from the center of Paris. Strolling the grounds on a recent day, Patrick Louis Vuitton, the great-great grandson of the founder, seems proud to showcase the rarely-seen compound to visitors. The Art Nouveau family home and workshops, including the area where special orders are made, are normally closed to all but a few exclusive clients But during a weekend called Les Journées Particulières [https://www.lesjourneesparticulieres.com/], the Louis Vuitton private workshops, along with those at other LVMH luxury businesses, were open to the general public — and they showed up in droves. The wait to get into the Vuitton atelier was three hours or more for those who didn't have reservations. CultureMap finagled a private tour and snapped some exclusive photos. Take a peek inside.
