Houston gets exotic new nonstop flights with United Airlines expanding its international map
United Airlines is adding a new Latin American destination — and Houston gets to be the launching point.
United will fly nonstop to Santiago, Chile, from George Bush Intercontinental Airport starting Dec. 7, pending regulatory approval. The airline also plans to add more new routes and flights from IAH to Central America and the Caribbean later this year.
"With our first-ever service between Houston and Santiago, Chile, we are expanding our already substantial presence in Latin America," Alex Savic, United's managing director of Latin American sales, said in a statement. "These flights will provide our customers fast, easy connections between our Houston hub and destinations throughout the U.S. and around the world."
The new Chile nonstop will depart Houston daily at 9:05 p.m., arriving in Santiago at 9:40 a.m. the next day. Return nonstops will depart Santiago daily at 10:45 p.m. and arrive in Houston at 5:40 a.m. the following day.
United also plans to create more flights from Houston to Central America and the Caribbean beginning Dec. 20. The locations include Punta Cana, Belize and Aruba. The Punta Cana service will be once a week, with flights departing on Saturdays to the Dominican Republic resort haven.
