Fans of Dominique Sachse have cause for celebration. The long-time KPRC Channel 2 news anchor has renewed her contract.
While Sachse’s prior contract, inked in 2008, was a seven-year deal, the specific terms of her current agreement have not been released. However, Sachse tells CultureMap, “It’s another long-term contract to keep me on air for many years to come.”
“I'm really blessed because I work with such a great team of people. It’s not work, it’s fun. And it’s something I want to continue because it’s fulfilling. It’s an honor to be able to serve the community I call home," she says.
One thing that will change, however, is Sachse’s work hours. She'll continue to anchor the 6 and 10 p.m. news, but Lauren Freeman will take over the 5 p.m. segment.
Sachse, who married Houston businessman Nick Florescu in 2012 and is active on the local charity scene, explains, “This (the contract renewal) happened at a time in my life when I was able to reassess my priorities. My life has changed a lot. I have a big family and a lot of community commitments. Now I’ll be able to get my son from school and do homework while still maintaining my career.
I’m humbled to have this opportunity at this stage in my life. It’s a great balance. The viewers ultimately decide who they want to see on air, and I’m incredibly thankful to be able to do what I love.”
The popular TV personality began her career in Houston as a radio traffic reporter in 1990. She followed it up with a stint as a disc jockey at Mix 96.5 FM before making the jump to KPRC in 1993.
Sachse married Houston businessman Nick Florescu in 2012.
