Strange Bedfellows
Jimmy Kimmel's crazy Austin lineup includes Rick Perry and Snoop Dogg
We've known for quite some time that Jimmy Kimmel would be joining SXSW in 2014, but until now his guests remained a mystery. We finally know who'll be appearing alongside the host during his stint in Austin, and as expected, the list of special guests for the SXSW tapings of Jimmy Kimmel Live! will feature some of the festival’s most anticipated speakers and performers — along with one controversial politician.
The lineup announced so far, along with the dates of the tapings, is:
- Monday, March 10: Seth Rogen, Snoop Dogg and musical guest White Denim from Austin
- Tuesday, March 11: Rosario Dawson, Gov. Rick Perry and musical guest Aloe Blacc
- Wednesday, March 12: Robert Duvall, Rachael Ray and musical guest Damon Albarn
- Thursday, March 13: Darby Stanchfield and musical guest The Preatures
- Friday, March 14: Willie Nelson
A few other musical guests will join Kimmel’s house band Cleto and the Cletones, including Jimmie Vaughn, Johnny Winter and Los Lonely Boys.
Most of the Kimmel's guests will be making appearances at the festival, whether as a featured speaker or as a showcase performer. And Gov. Perry will likely be around to take credit for the festival’s success.
With tapings taking place at the Long Center, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will have a limited number of wristbands available to SXSW registrants and wristband holders. Monday night's show will be open to all badge types, while the following shows will be available to Music and Platinum badges, as well as SXSW Music Festival and Artist Wristbands.
The special wristbands will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. outside of the Long Center. Guests with wristbands must be in line no later than 4 p.m. in order to gain entry to the tapings.
If you’re unable to score a ticket to the taping, the episodes will air later each night on Channel 13 in Houston at 10:35 pm CT. You can also try checking out the other late night hosts visiting Austin throughout SXSW, or just keep an eye out for Kimmel and his security guard, Guillermo Rodriguez, as they tour around town eating all of our barbecue.
