Broadway at The Hobby Center — known for bringing some of the nation's best theatrical productions to Houston — announces its impressive 2016-2017 lineup including Tony Award-winning musicals ranging from classics such as The King and I and Disney's The Lion King to new hits like Something Rotten! and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
From the Pride Lands of Africa to New Jersey, Broadway at the Hobby Center covers the globe in its upcoming season.
Jersey Boys (November 15-20, 2016)
The season kicks off with one of Broadway's most notable musicals, which details the formation, success and eventual break-up of the '60s rock 'n roll group The Four Seasons. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, Jersey Boys is a crowd-pleaser full of incredibly catchy songs that are sure to have the audience dancing in their seats.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (January 24-29, 2017)
This unique play-within-a-play, based on the eponymous novel, is quickly on its way to becoming a Broadway classic. Winner of the 2015 Tony Award for Best Play, the visually compelling production tells the story of a teenage boy who possesses an incredible mind — although he has a bit of trouble with the real world — and his endeavor to prove his innocence when he's accused of a crime.
The King and I (March 14-19, 2017)
The revival of the classic musical, The King and I — which originally opened on Broadway in 1951 — promises to wow audiences with the unforgettable musical numbers and stunning costumes of the original. The revival has earned four Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.
Finding Neverland (April 25-30, 2017)
Inspired by the eponymous 2004 film, Finding Neverland follows the story of author J.M. Barrie and his relationship with the family of widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, who eventually became Barrie's inspiration to write Peter Pan.
Something Rotten!(June 6-11, 2017)
Set in 1595, the story follows the Bottom brothers as they struggle to find success in the theatrical world and compete with the wild popularity of their contemporary, William Shakespeare. With a rollicking original score, period costumes and a sharp wit, Something Rotten! is one of Broadway's hottest new musicals.
The Bodyguard (August 15-20, 2017)
Based on the 1992 film The Bodyguard, the story follows the former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, as he's hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. The score is composed of more than a dozen of Whitney Houston's classic dance hits, paired with incredible choreography and glittering costumes.

The Book of Mormon (January 3-15, 2017)
This riotously funny production tells the story of two naïve Mormon missionaries sent to a remote village in northern Uganda where they try to share the Book of Mormon but have trouble connecting with the locals. Written by South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with Frozen composer Robert Lopez, this religious satire is known for being one of the most hilarious.
Disney's The Lion King (June 27-July 23, 2017)
Combining the unforgettable songs of the animated Disney classic with world-class choreography, giant puppets and fabulous costumes, The Lion King has become a classic Broadway musical in spite of opening less than nine years ago. Whether you're a die-hard fan who knows every song or have never seen the film, this production is great for anyone wanting to catch a glimpse of Broadway magic inside city limits.
