Gracing Austin's Hideout Theatre with her presence for SXSW in 2010, Meiko charmed the Sessions crowd with her song “Boys with Girlfriends." Her voice traveled through the dimly lit room and her simple guitar sounds filled the space like a glove.
Being brought up in the small town of Roberta, Ga., Meiko was raised by her biggest musical influence: Her father. Getting bit by the talent bug early, Meiko began performing everywhere she could, baseball games and churches included. At the age of 18, this songstress committed whole-heartedly to her love of music when she decided to take the ultimate leap of faith and move across country to Los Angeles. What a great move she made.
Meiko’s self-titled freshman LP was released to the world in September 2008, earning her the number five spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers list in December for eight consecutive weeks. The first single, “Boys with Girlfriends,” launched all the way up to No. 1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter’s chart quickly after its release.
After several supporting tours, Meiko finally set off in her first headlining tour in May 2009 that kicked off in Nashville and traveled all across America.
With touring and writing taking up almost all of her time, Meiko has her second LP, The Bright Side, dropping on May 15. You can pre-order it here.
